In designing BeeKeeperAI™, we took advantage of recent advances in privacy preserving computing technologies that support highly secure computing enclaves,
end-to-end data and algorithm encryption that ensures data security, and federated algorithm validation and training.

BeeKeeperAI™ uses privacy-preserving analytics on multi-institutional sources of protected data in a confidential computing environment including end-to-end encryption, secure computing enclaves, and Intel’s latest SGX enabled processors to comprehensively protect the data and the algorithm IP.

- [Our Company](https://www.beekeeperai.com/company): BeeKeeperAI™ was created at UCSF’s Center for Digital Health Innovation (CDHI) to solve the healthcare data access problem.

As we developed clinical AI at CDHI, we were experiencing the same data acquisition challenges that currently plague all healthcare AI algorithm developers and researchers.

While our algorithms were developed on high quality data sets and continued to perform very well on local clinical data, they did not perform as well when exposed to diverse real world data.

In today’s environment, it takes approximately 3 years and $5M per model to achieve generalizability. To date, not even 40 models have been approved by the FDA with only two of those considered truly novel.

The company also announced that Michael Blum, MD, UCSF’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Informatics and Chief Digital Transformation Officer, will be taking a leave of absence from UCSF to lead BeeKeeperAI and become the founding Chief Executive Officer.
